# Why Rust?

## Why Rust?

Because we want a systems programming language that's not C.

## About this guide

This guide borrows heavily from the offical [Rust Book](https://doc.rust-lang.org/book/second-edition/index.html). However, this is shortened because it is meant to be done in about three classroom hours (about one and a half solo) and altered slightly because it is aimed at high school students who have recently completed AP CS. Since this is aimed at students who are not able to install anything on school computers, we will be using [Repl.it](http://repl.it).
